Office move reflects upturn in Aberdeen's skills market

TEAM Energy Resources is on the move in Aberdeen. The organisation will in future occupy modern offices in parent company Acteon’s Tern Place headquarters.

Nab Kalsi, general manager, TEAM Energy Resources, said, “The move has the advantage of bringing us directly alongside several Acteon service companies in Aberdeen, which will enhance our outlook on the market and its needs. It is an ideal working environment for a business like ours that aims to link clients with the best available oil and gas professionals.”

TEAM saw a levelling of demand for manpower in 2009. There has been an increase in enquiries this year, however, especially for those with backgrounds in drilling and well construction. The company believes this is a prelude for increased recruitment activity across the wider spectrum of oil and gas activities.

The company is keen to strengthen its operation in Aberdeen for another reason: the region is now widely recognised as a centre of excellence for the international oil and gas industry. “Our Aberdeen office naturally deals with skilled personnel placements in the North Sea,” says Kalsi. “But, because many international projects are managed from Aberdeen, we are frequently asked to provide people for projects much further afield. We are seeing requests for people to work in, for example, Brazil, the Middle East and South Africa.”

TEAM’s Aberdeen office is headed by Stuart Morris, who has many years of experience in sourcing manpower for the oil and gas industry. The people that the company supplies fall into six broad categories: geology and geophysics; drilling and well construction; front-end and conceptual engineering; production and maintenance; construction; and subsea inspection and maintenance. Sourcing the right people for projects globally is aided by the company’s extensive personnel database and a new fully integrated website.
