Aquatic's new 50-tonne tensioner - already in service

06/12/2010

Aquatic, an Acteon company and a leading independent operator of powered-reel and tensioner systems, is pleased to announce that it has added a new 50-tonne tensioner, the AQTT-10C-50, to its extensive range of equipment which has already begun operations.

This project, another fully engineered solution developed by Aquatic’s engineering department, is the company’s largest capital expenditure project to date and the most complex piece of machinery in the inventory. Successfully managed by Raymond Apedaile and the workshop team in Aquatic’s Peterhead facility, the new tensioner joins a large portfolio of machines ranging from 3 to 40-te and a host of other equipment to make Aquatic’s fleet one of the most flexible worldwide. President of Aquatic, Chris Brooks, welcomed the development: “The market in which we operate is one of the most physically and commercially demanding in the world, and these demands drive our continuing investment in new equipment and technology. We already have a strong market presence with our 40-te four-track tensioners, and our customers have been urging us to expand our capacity to meet their deeper water and larger product requirements. In fact, the AQTT-10C-50 left for its first job the day following its successful testing.”

Aquatic considers that its strategic advantage comes from its focus on engineering excellence designing and building each piece of new equipment at its Peterhead facility. As with most of its fleet, the AQTT-10C-50 four-track 50-te tensioner has been designed to be fully road transportable and capable of being shipped in a series of open-topped containers. This offers a deployment efficiency for customers, both in terms of cost and time for mobilisation and demobilisation wherever in the world they are operating. Aquatic continues to put customers at the heart of its business and, by delivering quality equipment and supplying skilled operators, the company’s total focus on customer service achieves the very highest performance standards.

Aquatic’s subsea services equipment capability is an integral part of the Acteon group’s success, and this latest development pushes the technology envelope in order to keep pace with the growing demands of the subsea sector. Acteon continues to invest in Aquatic service lines as it is paramount the company remains a leading player in its marine engineering operations.
