Aquatic achieves triple ISO recertification by putting customers first

01/11/2010

Aquatic, an Acteon company and a leading independent operator of powered-reel and tensioner systems for the global oil and gas industry, is proud to announce that it has retained its ISO status for ISO 9001, ISO 18001 and ISO 14001. This triple recertification followed the British Standards Institution’s (BSI) strategic review of the three ISO management systems operated at the company.

The objective of the strategic review, which BSI performs every three years, was to ascertain the integrity of Aquatic’s management systems for ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 18001:2007 over the current three-year period to enable recertification and to confirm the forward strategic assessment plan. “Senior management demonstrated a clear and strong commitment to these systems, which was evident from their full participation in the entire review and their focus on customer support,” said Paul Lavin, BSI client manager and assessment team leader.

The ISO systems of 9001, 18001 and 14001 cover quality management; occupational health and safety management; and environmental management respectively.

To be awarded the triple certification is a two-stage process:

  • BSI conducts six-monthly surveillance programmes in which its people go through the three managements systems every six months for a three-year period.
  • During the third year, BSI carries out a strategic review with senior management to see if the triple system is genuinely integrated throughout the business

“This is the first time we have had all three certificates renewed at a strategic review,” commented Chris Brooks, president of Aquatic. “The recertification demonstrates our commitment to customer satisfaction, health, safety, environmental and quality excellence, and continuous improvement. Because these are international standards, they are recognised worldwide and so our practices are easily comparable with any other company’s. In short, we are the best we can be, which is staggering for a company of our size.”

Operating in the multibillion-dollar offshore oil and gas industry, Aquatic is also earning a new reputation for its work in the offshore energy market. Consequently, the company needs to be able to manage the continual safety, quality and environmental challenges that come from working with a diverse range of customers and the constantly changing environment that is the ocean.

Providing both equipment and people to perform pipe-laying operations, Aquatic supplies reels, tensioners and other equipment. Each piece of kit is modular in design, which makes it inherently flexible and able to be dismantled and packed into 12-m containers and shipped anywhere in the world.

By putting customer focus at the heart of its business, Aquatic is able to successfully design and build the right engineering equipment as required; deliver quality products supplied by trained skilled people; and deliver projects on time, on budget and incident free in every respect. The triple recertification of its ISO status by BSI underpins the company’s total focus on customer service as the way to achieve the very highest performance standards at every level possible.
