Acteon wins Fast Track 100 international award
04/06/2009
Acteon has won the international award at the 12th annual Fast Track 100 conference and awards dinner, which was hosted by Richard Branson at his Oxfordshire home on 20 May 2009.
The company won the award following its rapid expansion to 1450 employees in 12 countries, including Singapore, Brazil and a joint venture in Qatar, during the three years to 2007. The company has seen a 72% growth in sales to £194.7 million over the period.
A strong business plan that has delivered very satisfactory organic growth, coupled with diverse acquisitions such as CAPE, Fluke Engenharia, InterAct PMTI, Seatronics, IMS and Chain Co., has meant that Acteon has appeared regularly in the Sunday Times’ Fast Track listings. The company achieved an impressive second place listing in the Deloitte Buyout Track 100 in February 2009.
The award was sponsored by HSBC, and was presented by its head of commercial banking, Steve Price, to Kevin Ovenden, Acteon finance director.
The awards bring together the founders and directors of the UK’s 100 privately owned companies with the fastest-growing sales, as published in the latest Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table to celebrate the best of British entrepreneurship.
Speakers at the awards included top businessmen, such as serial entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den panellist James Caan, as well as Eden Project co-founder Tim Smit CBE and Branson himself.
Branson congratulated the winners for successfully growing their businesses in turbulent economic times. He commented that the companies that survive this recession will do very well and will emerge stronger and with fewer competitors.
