In recent years, Acteon company 2H Offshore has devised a comprehensive, risk-based philosophy for deepwater riser integrity management. It is a philosophy based on 2H’s detailed understanding of the design complexities of deepwater risers – on knowing in the first place exactly what data you need to monitor and collect. It is then down to intelligent interpretation of that data to devise appropriate inspection and preventive maintenance regimes. It is also about constant learning and feedback into the design process, monitoring and inspection procedures, and day-to-day operations to drive continuous improvement and, ultimately, achieve better long-term integrity of key structures.
A number of other Acteon companies are now applying this approach to the integrity of, for example, conductor systems, subsea pipelines, production hardware and foundation and mooring systems.
